Pool owners should not wait for lily pads to appear on the surface of their pool water to admit there is an issue with cleanliness.  Anyone who owns a pool or spa must be cognizant of the fact that algae finds its way into water surprisingly easily.  As an example, microscopic algae particles on a swimmer's swimsuit or even a tiny bit of algae on something floating in the pool can lead to compromised water.  Regardless of how algae makes its way into the pool or spa, it should be eliminated right away.  In some cases, simply maintaining the proper balance of water chemistry prevents the growth and expansion of algae.  Though algae that grows in pools and spas might not be as harmful as algae that blooms in marine waters, this substance is still problematic for pool and spa owners.

Algae, dirt, debris and other gunk causes pool and spa water to be cloudy and unnecessarily thick.  In fact, if enough gunk builds up, it will be difficult to see another swimmer underwater.  Furthermore, algae is a problem as it provides food for bacteria that should not be in a pool or spa.  Above all, algae and other unsavory particles in pool or spa water are problematic as they create a slime-like water that no one wants to swim in.

Spa Service Santa Maria

It is not only pools that are susceptible to grime and gunk.  Spas must also be kept clean or they will be rife with algae, stray particles, dirt, animal droppings, drowned insects and so on.  Though it is much more common for algae to thrive in a pool than a spa, it is still very possible for algae to grow in these comparably small and hot spaces.  Similar to most other plants, algae requires sun to grow.  If your pool or spa is not provided with sunlight, it will prove difficult for algae to expand yet there is still the chance for other forms of dirt and debris to build up.

Algae grows in spas for a litany of reasons.  For one, improper filtration can lead to a rapid buildup of algae and other nasty particles that compromise your spa.  Leaving a spa uncovered also has the potential to backfire in a big way as it invites algae and other gross particles right on in.  The lack of sanitizer and even transmitting algae to the water by way of swim trunks are also common reasons for the growth of algae in spas.  Thankfully, algae and other gross particles can be cleaned from spas as well as hot tubs.  The spa should be drained and refilled so any algae present is sent on its way.  Shock can also be used to sanitize the space though this approach can alter the chemical levels in the spa.  Algaecide is another commonly used solution.
